日本の昼食 (Japanese Lunch)

日本の昼食 (Japanese Lunch)
Room 10 have been learning about Japan with Room 9.
Between the two class's we have two Japanese mothers,
Reiko and Manami that
came in to show us their kimonos and
helped us in our production piece,
We gave them a card & flowers in a little colourful bag.
After the show the next day we had a Japanese lunch.
We had 寿司 (Sushi), 米球 (Rice Balls), 醤油 (Soy Sauce) and Chips?
We had to use chopsticks to eat them.
Learning about Japan was very fun and the food was yummy.
Now some photos and videos.

Art Gallery Visit

On Friday the 3rd of September room 10 went to the Dunedin Public Art Gallery. When we arrived John Neumegen picked two people from our class to make a Japanese paper crane with a man called Russell , apparently it was really really hard . Then we went and looked at some art in the gallery. First we looked at some Japanese prints and print themed paintings and they looked awesome. Then we watched a part of an original Astro Boy animated movie inspired by Japanese prints, it was amazing that such a popular cartoon was inspired by Japanese prints. Next we played paper, scissors, rock and Ariana bet the art gallery's reigning champion John Neumegen and became the all out Room 1o champ. After our encounter with the champ we went into the workshop to do some Japanese art of our own. First we sketched on our paper with some blue ink and colored in the hair with jet black Indian ink and then the body with many vibrant colors of dye. After we had dyed our masterpieces we cut parts of the kimonos out and replaced them with colored paper and foil and then used rubbing pads and white crayons to create patterns around the body and dyed over them a different color. After that we thanked John and walked out to the bus and drove back to school.
